When you ride, every surface is on show—fairings, tank, wheels, even the chrome on your exhausts. Unlike cars, motorcycles put their paint and metalwork right in the firing line of UV, road grime, chain fling and heat. At Mat’s Detailing in Hamilton, we treat bikes with the same obsessive precision we apply to high-end cars and marine craft—just tailored to the realities of two wheels.
Our specialist process restores clarity to clear-coated fairings, revives dull tanks, deep-cleans intricate spokes and brake calipers, and protects vulnerable areas with the strongest modern technologies: paint correction, Fireball ceramic & graphene coatings, and paint protection film (PPF). The result is a bike that looks crisp, stays cleaner for longer, and holds its value—whether it’s your daily, your weekend pride and joy, or a track toy.
Why motorbikes need a different approach
Bikes have more exposed edges, tighter curves and mixed materials (paint, plastics, matte vinyl, bare alloy, stainless and chrome). They also collect contamination in tricky places—behind fairings, around fasteners and in the lower forks. We adapt our methods and tools to suit:
Low-profile machine polishing for tight radii and complex plastics.
pH-balanced decon to remove bugs, tar and chain fling without hazing plastics.
Heat-tolerant coatings around headers, mufflers and rear sets.
Pattern-cut PPF for leading edges, tank sides and heel-scrub zones to stop rub-through.
Paint correction that respects thin motorcycle clear
Motorcycle clear coats are often thinner than automotive. Our “least-aggressive-first” methodology levels swirls and light marring on tanks and gloss fairings while preserving clear coat health. Expect sharper reflections, richer colour and a smoother surface that’s ready for long-term protection.
Ceramic & graphene coatings (Fireball)
We apply Fireball Graphene and Ceramic coatings—advanced, high-solid formulas engineered for chemical resistance, UV defence and heat stability. On bikes, that means:
Hydrophobic self-cleaning: water beads off tanks, fairings and screens.
UV & oxidation protection for gloss and matte finishes.
Heat and chemical resistance around wheels, undersides and exhaust surrounds.
Slick feel that reduces bug adhesion and makes wash-downs faster.
Matte paint or vinyl? We use matte-safe coatings that protect without adding unwanted gloss.
Precision PPF for high-impact zones
A quality paint protection film is the best defence against stone strikes and rub damage. Using specialised software and plotters, we cut PPF patterns to suit your model—minimising on-bike knife work. Popular placements:
Leading edges of front fairings and belly pans
Tank sides where jackets and knees rub
Headlight lenses and front mudguard
Side panels & heel guards for boot scuffing
Choose high-gloss to boost depth or matte/satin to preserve the factory look.
Chrome, alloy & blacked-out finishes
From classic chrome to modern blacked-out engines and exhaust shields, we use targeted metal care to remove oxidation, restore lustre and protect from future tarnish—without leaving messy residues on adjacent paint or plastics.
Wheels, brakes & driveline care
We deep-clean spokes, hubs and calipers; safely lift iron deposits; and apply heat-tolerant protection that resists brake dust and chain fling. For chain-drive bikes, we decontaminate the wheel and swingarm and finish with coatings that make future clean-ups quick.
Interior? Not quite—but contact points matter
Seats, grips and switchgear get gentle cleansing and protection to resist UV, sunscreen and sweat—keeping touch points looking fresh without becoming slippery.
Our promise
Quality, integrity, professionalism and customer satisfaction are the values we ride by. Proper prep is everything; it’s how coatings bond, how PPF edges sit clean, and how your finish keeps that “just-detailed” look for the long term.

How long does a full motorbike detail and coating take?
Typically 1–2 days depending on condition, the level of paint correction, and whether we’re applying PPF in addition to ceramic/graphene coatings.
Is ceramic/graphene coating safe on matte paint or matte vinyl?
Yes. We use matte-safe coatings that protect against UV and contaminants without adding gloss or changing the texture.
Why choose PPF on a bike if I’m already coating it?
Coatings are fantastic for chemical/UV resistance and easy cleaning, but PPF is a physical barrier that absorbs stone hits and rub wear (tank sides, fairing tips, heel zones). Many riders combine both for maximum protection.
Will polishing thin my clear coat?
We measure and use conservative, bike-specific techniques. Our goal is to remove the least amount of material required to correct visible defects, preserving clear health for the long term.
How do I wash the bike after coating?
Use a pH-neutral shampoo, soft mitts and separate wheel tools. Avoid harsh degreasers and cheap silicone sprays. The coating will make bugs and grime release easily—less scrubbing, fewer wash marks.
How long do coatings last on a bike?
With sensible maintenance, 2–5+ years is typical, depending on use and storage. We provide care guidance and can schedule annual “top-up” maintenance to keep performance at its peak.
Can you protect my helmet or screen?
Yes. We can apply appropriate coatings to visors and screens to enhance clarity and make bug removal easier. (We avoid anything that might cause distortion.)
Do you offer mobile detailing for bikes?
Yes, Hamilton, Waikato and surrounding areas. For complex PPF installs or multi-stage corrections, we may recommend our Riverlea workshop for best results.
